Redang Island 3 Days 2 Nights -Malaysia - Part 1
Now if you decide to come to Malaysia and have limited time, I would highly recommend a visit to Redang or Perhentian Islands rather than the conventional Langkawi Island. The true island experience lies in the heart of these picturesque beaches located on the South China Sea off the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Surrounded by pristine water and smooth beaches this is by far the best island getaway in West Malaysia.
*Details of travel are listed below for your convenience.
We decided to have a weekend get away sometime in February 2018 so the ocean was quite rough which was fantastic as the skilled boatman steered through rough waves, however peak period of visit is between March end to July end and the islands close down during monsoon season September end - January end.
You have to stop and admire the vision of "Masjid Kristal" which is located on the mainland 40mins from the jetty. If your bus arrives early this is an absolute must and also catch an early sunrise while you are there.
Crystal Mosque Kuala Terranganu falls in the top 10 mosques in the world |
Once we arrived and got into the jetty the ride to our hotel was heavenly. The soothing waves and breeze awakens you and you can feel yourself disconnect and enter a natural haven. We were mesmerised by the views and didn't want the journey to end. Alas, we arrived at the pick up point whereby a buggy drove us to our hotel.
Redang Paradise Resort RM 369 3days 2nights (package cost shall be discussed in the next blog) |
I shall end the blog here as we choose a package deal with the resort which is a total cost saving strategy if you are on a budget. I shall elaborate on the itenerary and provide pictures on our activities and food in the next blog. Cheers!
Getting There
Flight
A flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terranganu would take about 50 mins and it does save quite a bit of time. Cost :- MYR 114 (one way Air Asia).
Bus
If you are opting for a cheaper route, bus is the next best option. The bus travels from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan to Kuala Terranganu Bus Stop and take about 8 hours. Cost :- MYR 40 (one way)
Jetty
Merang Jetty to Redang Island is the only transportation to the islands from the mainland. Its more of a speed boat. Cost:- MYR 75 (two ways)
